“When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.” – Acts 1:13 (NIV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 1:13 provides a simple yet powerful picture of the apostles gathering in the upper room after Jesus’s ascension, waiting for the promised Holy Spirit. Philip’s name is listed among those present, highlighting his continued commitment to the group and their shared mission. This verse emphasizes the importance of unity, fellowship, and prayer in the life of the early church.
As a disciple, you are called to be a part of a community of believers who support, encourage, and pray for one another. Philip’s presence in the upper room reminds you that your faithfulness matters. Even when you don’t see immediate results, your consistent commitment to prayer, fellowship, and service can make a difference in the lives of others. You are empowered to be a source of strength, encouragement, and unity in your church and in your community.
This week, prioritize connecting with your church community and participating in prayer. Attend services, join a small group, or seek opportunities to serve alongside other believers. Commit to praying regularly for your church, your community, and the needs of others.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of community and for the opportunity to connect with other believers. Help me to be a faithful and supportive member of my church. Give me a heart for prayer and a desire to serve others. May we be united in our love for You and in our commitment to Your mission. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
