The Prophecy Fulfilled- Judas in the Divine Plan

April 27, 2025

By Andrew Williams

“Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus.” – Acts 1:16 (NIV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

Acts 1:16 offers a sobering perspective on Judas’ role in the unfolding of God’s redemptive plan. Peter, addressing the believers, explains that Judas’ betrayal was not a random act of evil but a fulfillment of prophecy, spoken long ago through David. This verse reminds us that God is sovereign over all things, even the choices of those who oppose Him. It also highlights the mysterious ways in which God can use human wickedness to accomplish His divine purposes.

As a disciple, you may struggle to understand why bad things happen, why evil exists, or why God allows suffering. This passage reminds you that God is always in control, even when things seem chaotic or senseless. Trust in His sovereignty and believe that He can bring good out of even the most difficult circumstances. While we may not always understand His ways, we can rest assured that He is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

This week, when faced with difficult or confusing situations, remember that God is sovereign and that He has a plan. Seek to understand His will through prayer, study of the Scriptures, and wise counsel. Trust that He is working all things together for your good and for His glory, even when you cannot see the outcome.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge Your sovereignty over all things, even the difficult and confusing situations I face. Help me to trust in Your plan and to believe that You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory. Grant me wisdom and discernment to understand Your will and to follow Your leading. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
