“Then Peter replied, ‘I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation, He accepts those who fear Him and do what is right. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.’” Acts 10:34-38 (NLT)
Good morning fellow disciples.
This passage marks a pivotal moment in the early church as Peter recognizes and proclaims the universal nature of the Gospel. Up until this point, many believed that salvation was primarily for the Jewish people. However, through divine revelation and the events leading up to this moment, Peter boldly declares that “God shows no favoritism.” The Good News of Jesus Christ is for all people, regardless of nationality, race, or background.
Peter emphasizes that peace with God is available through Jesus Christ, who is “Lord of all.” He recounts the ministry of Jesus, who was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power to bring healing and freedom to those oppressed by sin and the enemy. This message underscores the heart of God: to bring salvation to all who fear Him and seek to do what is right. It reminds us that God’s love and grace are not limited by human boundaries or prejudices.
Peter’s realization and proclamation embolden us to embrace the truth that God’s love knows no boundaries. As disciples, we are called to share the Gospel with everyone, not just those who look like us, think like us, or come from similar backgrounds. This passage reminds us that the Good News is for all people and challenges us to redirect our focus from cultural or personal biases to God’s inclusive mission. We are empowered to love others as God loves them, seeing every person as valuable and worthy of hearing the message of salvation through Christ.
This week, intentionally reach out to someone who is different from you—whether in culture, background, or belief—and share God’s love with them. It could be through a kind word, an act of service, or even starting a conversation about your faith. Redirect your focus from any unconscious biases or discomfort and instead embrace God’s heart for all people. Pray for opportunities to share the Good News and to see others as God sees them—loved, valued, and in need of His grace.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for the reminder that You show no favoritism and that Your love and salvation are for all people. I confess that at times I have allowed biases or fears to limit my willingness to reach out to others. Redirect my focus to Your heart for the whole world, and help me to see every person as You see them. Use me to share Your message of peace and salvation through Jesus Christ. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can boldly proclaim that Jesus is Lord of all. I commit to being a disciple who reflects Your love to everyone, no matter their background. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
