God’s Instructions To Joshua

God’s Instructions To Joshua

After the death of Moses the Lord’s servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, who had served Moses: “Moses My servant is dead. Now you and all the people prepare to cross over the Jordan to the land I am giving the Israelites. I have given you every place where the sole of your foot treads, just as I promised Moses. Your territory will be from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great Euphrates River — all the land of the Hittites — and west to the Mediterranean Sea. No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or forsake you. “Be strong and courageous, for you will distribute the land I swore to their fathers to give them as an inheritance. Above all, be strong and very courageous to carefully observe the whole instruction My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or the left, so that you will have success wherever you go. This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:1‭-‬9 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

Who is your rabbi / teacher?

Who has been discipling you?

What is their relationship with God like?

As you follow their teachings and pattern your life after them, how has your relationship and fellowship with God changed?

God told Joshua that He would take up the mantle after Moses. He told Joshua to be strong and courageous. He told him to meditate on the words of the law every single day and that he should obey them. He told him that he would be victorious everywhere he went.

God said: “Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Like Joshua, you need to believe God’s instructions. His instructions always come with a promise. Trust God because He is always faithful to keep His promise!

I love the relationship that Joshua had with Moses. As we look at God’s instructions to Joshua, I am reminded of my favorite passage that mentions his name in Exodus 33:7‭-‬9‭, ‬11.

Prayer: Father God, bless me and instruct me like you did Joshua. I want to be strong and courageous! I want to prosper everywhere I go! I want You to be with me everywhere I go!

So God, I pray that I will be faithful like Joshua who stayed in your presence continually, as mentioned in Exodus 33:7‭-‬9‭, ‬11 HCSB
: Now Moses took a tent and set it up outside the camp, far away from the camp; he called it the tent of meeting. Anyone who wanted to consult the Lord would go to the tent of meeting that was outside the camp. Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would stand up, each one at the door of his tent, and they would watch Moses until he entered the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and remain at the entrance to the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. The Lord spoke with Moses face to face, just as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his assistant, the young man Joshua son of Nun, would not leave the inside of the tent.
Amen.
