Week 15: The Language of the Seer (Dreams & Visions)
Anchor Scripture: “For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.” — Job 33:14–16 (NKJV)
The Teaching
Throughout history, God has used the “Night Season” to communicate with His messengers. From Jacob’s ladder to Joseph’s sheaves of wheat, and from Daniel’s beasts to Joseph’s warning to flee to Egypt, dreams are a primary prophetic tool. We call them Night Parables because, like the parables of Jesus, they use earthly symbols and stories to reveal heavenly realities.
But why does God speak while we sleep? Job reveals the secret: because during the day, man often “does not perceive” what God is saying. Our logical minds are too loud, our schedules are too busy, and our internal “defenses” are too high. When we are awake, we often argue with God’s instructions or filter His words through our own reasoning.
In sleep, however, the “gatekeeper” of the intellect is bypassed. Our bodies are still and our souls are quiet, leaving our spirits wide open. In this defenseless state, God “seals our instruction.” He deposits revelation directly into the subconscious, ensuring that the message is received without the interference of our daily “noise.” To be a prophet is to recognize that your “closed eyes” in the natural are often the key to your “open eyes” in the Spirit.
Prophetic Insight
A prophetic dream is rarely a literal “movie” of what is going to happen; it is usually a symbolic message that requires the Spirit of Wisdom to interpret. This is the “language of the Seer.” God uses colors, animals, people, and metaphors to bypass your “head” and strike your “heart.” If you haven’t been dreaming lately, or if you “forget” your dreams, it is often a sign of a cluttered soul. God is looking for “Night Sentinels”—prophets who value His night-time whispers enough to record them. If you treat your dreams as “just a dream,” you are ignoring a sealed instruction from the King.
The Activation
Tonight, prepare for a “Night Briefing.” Place a notebook and a pen (or a voice recorder) right next to your bed. Before you go to sleep, make a deliberate “Night Covenant” with the Lord. Say, “Lord, my body is going to sleep, but my heart is awake. I open my night-gate to You. Speak to me in a dream, and I promise to record what You show me.” If you wake up with even a single image or a fragment of a dream, write it down immediately before your logical mind “erases” it.
Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You never sleep nor slumber. I thank You for the ‘Night Parables’ You want to share with me. I open my ears and my eyes to Your night-time instructions. Forgive me for ignoring Your whispers in the dark. Seal Your Word in my heart tonight. Give me the Spirit of Revelation to understand the symbolic language of my dreams. Amen
