Week 14: Awakening Spiritual Perception

Anchor Scripture: “And the Lord said to me, ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ And I said, ‘I see the branch of an almond tree.’ Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.’” — Jeremiah 1:11–12 (NKJV)

The Teaching
One of the primary ways a prophet “sees” is through the perception of the Spiritual Atmosphere. Just as a weather forecaster can feel the moisture in the air or the shift in barometric pressure before a storm arrives, a prophet is sensitive to the “climate” of a room, a church, or a city. This is part of your “Spiritual Touch” (Day 92).

An “atmosphere” is the prevailing spirit or mood of a place. It is the result of what has been prayed, spoken, or entertained there.

  • In some places, you will feel an atmosphere of Peace (the Presence of God).
  • In others, you will sense a “heaviness” or “confusion” (the presence of conflict or demonic oppression).
  • You might sense a “dryness” (a lack of spiritual life) or a “sharpness” (a spirit of judgment).

Discerning the atmosphere is not about being “critical” of the people; it is about “seeing” the spiritual environment they are living in. Jeremiah saw an “almond tree”—the first tree to bloom in the spring. He wasn’t just seeing a plant; he was “sensing” the season of God’s performance. To “see well” as a prophet means you are able to accurately identify what is happening in the spirit realm right now.

Prophetic Insight
Your body and your emotions are often the “thermometer” for the spiritual atmosphere. If you walk into a store and suddenly feel angry for no reason, or if you walk into a meeting and suddenly feel a “cloud” over your mind, do not assume it is “you.” You are likely picking up on the atmosphere. The Prophet is an Atmospheric Discerner. God shows you the climate so that you can change it. You aren’t just a thermometer (which measures the temperature); you are a thermostat (which sets it). Once you discern a heavy atmosphere, your prophetic word or prayer is the “tool” God uses to shift the climate back to the Kingdom.

The Activation
Today, as you move through different environments—your home, your car, your workplace—take an “Atmosphere Reading.” Pause and ask: What is the ‘weather’ in this room? Is it heavy, light, peaceful, or chaotic?” Once you identify a negative climate, don’t complain about it. Silently release a prophetic word of “Peace” or “Truth” into the room. Notice if the atmosphere shifts after you pray.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth. I ask for the grace to discern the atmospheres around me today. Open my spiritual senses to perceive the climates I am walking in. Forgive me for being ‘moody’ when I was actually being ‘sensitive.’ Give me the wisdom to ‘see well’ and the authority to shift atmospheres for Your glory. Amen.
