Series: The Year of the Prophet- Month 4: The Seer Realm & Divine Senses

Week 17: Interpretation & The Prophetic Riddle

Anchor Scripture: “Then the Lord answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.’” — Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)

The Teaching
We conclude our week on Interpretation with a mandate that is often ignored in prophetic circles: The Responsibility of Clarity. There is a common temptation for those in the prophetic office to wrap their messages in layers of “mystery” and “spirit-speak.” We sometimes believe that the more cryptic or “deep” we sound, the more spiritual we are. But according to God’s instruction to Habakkuk, the goal of revelation is not to mystify, but to mobilize.

God told the prophet to make the vision “plain.” Why? So that the person reading it could “run.” If a prophetic word is so confusing, so metaphorical, or so filled with “insider jargon” that the recipient doesn’t know what to do next, the word has failed its primary purpose. A prophet is a bridge-builder between the “Council of God” and the “Conduct of Man.” If the bridge doesn’t reach the other side, no one can cross it.

As a messenger, you are responsible for the clarity of the sound. Paul warns in 1 Corinthians 14:8, “For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?” If your “trumpet” (your voice) is muffled by your own desire to sound “mystical,” you leave the people in a state of paralysis rather than preparation. A mature prophet works hard to translate the “dark sayings” (Day 113) into “plain tablets.”

Prophetic Insight
Complexity is often a shield for an unrefined word. It is much harder to be simple than it is to be “deep.” To be simple, you must truly understand what God is saying. If you are hiding behind “vague” language, it may be because you haven’t stayed in the Presence long enough to get the interpretation. The mark of a great prophet is the ability to take a high-level heavenly blueprint and explain it so clearly that even a child can understand what God requires. Your job is not to impress people with your “sight”; it is to empower them with “instruction.” If they can’t “run” after you’ve spoken, you haven’t made it plain enough.

The Activation
Take a “prophetic thought” or a vision you have right now. Practice the “Plain Tablet” exercise: Try to summarize that revelation in one or two simple, actionable sentences. Avoid using “Christianese” or mystical metaphors. Ask yourself: “If I said this to someone who doesn’t know ‘prophetic culture,’ would they know how to respond to God?” If not, go back to the Lord and ask for the “Plain Language” of the Spirit.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You are a God of order and not of confusion. I ask for the grace to be a clear trumpeter in Your Kingdom. Forgive me for the pride that tries to sound ‘deep’ at the expense of being ‘plain.’ I choose to take the responsibility for clarity. Help me to translate Your mysteries into instructions that allow Your people to run. Let my words be simple, sharp, and life-giving. Amen.
