Week 17: Interpretation & The Prophetic Riddle
Anchor Scripture:“…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.” — Ephesians 1:17 (NKJV)
The Teaching
In the prophetic process, there are two primary “spirits” that must walk hand-in-hand: Wisdom and Revelation. Paul does not pray for them as separate options; he prays for them as a unified gift. In the Kingdom, Revelation is the “What” (the data, the vision, the secret), but Wisdom is the “How” and the “When” (the stewardship, the timing, and the delivery).
If Revelation is a powerful engine, Wisdom is the steering wheel and the brakes. A prophet who has “abundance of revelation” but lacks “divine wisdom” is a dangerous person. They are like a surgeon who has a sharp scalpel (the Word) but doesn’t know where to cut or how to stitch the wound back together. Without wisdom, revelation can be used to feed the ego, to crush the weak, or to cause unnecessary chaos in the Church.
Wisdom is the “Sister of Revelation.” She is the one who tells the Prophet, “Yes, you saw the secret sin, but now you must pray for them in private for three weeks before you say a word.” Wisdom ensures that the revelation achieves its intended purpose—redemption—rather than just “exposure.” Revelation sees the truth, but Wisdom knows how to apply that truth so that it produces life.
Prophetic Insight
Many prophets are “revelation-rich” but “wisdom-poor.” They have amazing dreams and sharp words of knowledge, but their lives and ministries are in constant turmoil because they lack the wisdom to steward what they see. If you find that your prophetic words often cause more “division” than “deliverance,” you need to ask for the Sister. Wisdom is what makes the Prophet “safe” for the Body of Christ. A wise prophet knows that a word is a seed; it needs the right soil and the right season. Never let your “sight” outpace your “sobriety.” If God shows you something spectacular, don’t move until the Spirit of Wisdom gives you the “how.”
The Activation
Identify a piece of revelation you currently hold—something you’ve seen or heard about a person or a situation. Today, before you speak or act, call upon the “Sister.” Say to the Lord: “I thank You for the revelation, but I ask now for the Spirit of Wisdom. How do I steward this? Is this for prayer or for proclamation? When is the right time to release it?” Wait for the “strategy” of Wisdom to settle in your spirit before you move.
Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You are the only wise God. I ask today for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus. Forgive me for being a ‘revelation-junkie’ who ignores the discipline of wisdom. I refuse to use Your secrets to build my own importance. Give me the heart of a steward. Teach me not just what to see, but how to speak. Let Wisdom and Revelation be the constant companions of my life. Amen.
