But Peter said to Him, Even if they all fall away and are caused to stumble and distrust and desert You, yet I will not [do so]!
Mark 14:29 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
Is Peter full of pride?
Why does Peter think that he would be the only one that could resist deserting Jesus?
Is his relationship with Jesus so much better than the others that he is resistant to failure?
If I was one of the other disciples who heard Peter say this I would not be pleased. But at the same time they probably were so distraught at hearing what Jesus said that they weren’t even paying proper attention to Peter’s remark.
In our churches today we find many persons who behave like Peter. They think that other persons will fail but they will not. They believe that they can resist certain things that others can’t. They believe that their relationship with God is so great in comparison to others. They believe that they cannot miss the mark that is placed in front of them by God.
But this is not true. We all have free will and many of us if not all will deny God when we are persecuted in the right way.
What are your thoughts about yourself today: Do you believe that you will never betray God?
