Good morning fellow disciples.
Have you ever felt the tug of two opposing forces within you? One whispering promises of ease and comfort, the other urging you towards a path that seems difficult, even scary. This internal struggle is a reflection of the constant battle between our fleshly desires and the call of God’s Spirit. But what if I told you that choosing to obey God’s commands, even when it’s hard, leads to a life overflowing with blessings?
Deuteronomy 11:26-28 reminds us of God’s clear expectations for His people: “See, I set before you today a blessing and a curse—a blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and a curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn aside from the way I command you today.” God’s commands are not arbitrary rules; they are pathways to life, to joy, to a deep and abiding relationship with Him.
John 14:15 gives us a powerful promise: “If you love me, you will obey my commands.” Obedience is not a burden, but a sign of our love for God. And when we choose to obey, we open ourselves to a flood of blessings. 1 John 5:3 tells us, “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” Obedience brings peace, joy, and a sense of purpose. It aligns our hearts with God’s will and brings us into harmony with His plan.
But let’s be honest, obedience isn’t always easy. We face temptations every day, whispers of self-indulgence, distractions that pull us away from God’s path. How do we overcome these challenges?
- Remember God’s Love: He loves us deeply and desires only what is best for us. His commands are not meant to restrict us, but to guide us towards a life of abundance.
- Seek Strength in Prayer: When faced with a difficult decision, turn to God in prayer. Ask for wisdom, guidance, and the strength to obey.
- Surround Yourself with Support: Connect with other believers who can encourage you and hold you accountable.
Will you choose to obey God’s Commands?
Prayer: Father God, help us to choose obedience over self-will. Grant us the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to follow Your commands. May our lives be a testament to Your love and faithfulness. Amen.
Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
