Luke 1:67 NLT -Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy.
Good morning fellow disciples.
When we are filled with God’s Holy Spirit it is always for a purpose. In this verse we see that when Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, he began to prophesy.
Zechariah and Elizabeth had just given birth to their son John. This birth was miraculous, since both of them were old and Elizabeth was barren. Zechariah had previously been told by the angel Gabriel that this child would be born, and he would be filled with the Holy Spirit before he was even born. Zechariah had questioned Gabriel, and because of this he was struck dumb until the child was born.
It was now day eight after John’s birth, and it was time for him to be named. When Zechariah confirmed that his name was John, his speech came back. It was then that he began to prophecy.
Through the Holy Spirit, Zechariah prophesied about Jesus the Messiah, and John his son, who would prepare the way for Jesus.
Do you have God’s Holy Spirit in you? Have you prophesied over your children or others?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, use us to prophesy into the lives of others, I pray. Amen.
