What Drives your Meditation

By Andrew Williams

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
Romans 8:5 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

Our meditation is informed by what drives us or what controls us. What is controlling you?

Are you controlled by your sinful nature, or are you controlled by God’s Holy Spirit?

Look at the things that you meditate on, think about, and ponder over all the time. Are your thoughts dominated by sinful things? When you act on your thoughts, do you end up sinning against God?

If the answer is yes, then you are controlled by your sinful nature and this is what drives your meditation.

On the other hand, if you are thinking about things that glorify God, and when you put these thoughts into action, your actions please God, then you are being led and controlled by the Holy Spirit.

Take an inventory of your thought life. As you reflect on it, choose who you will allow to drive your meditation.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I want You to guide my meditation. I surrender to You to lead me and guide me in my thought process. My meditation WILL be pleasing to You! Amen.
