Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it.
Hebrews 4:1 BSB
Good morning, fellow disciples.
Wait is defined as: “to remain stationary in readiness or expectation.”
I believe we are familiar with these lyrics:
“I want to go to heaven and rest, I’m Tired of staying down here, Tired of the trouble n trials, I want to go to heaven n rest.”
Some of us believe that when we end this life, we are going to go to heaven to rest. If this is indeed what this promise is about, then we need to look at the second part of this verse. God’s promise of rest still remains. We are therefore able to enter His rest at the appointed time.
However, we must be careful not to fall short of the requirements of entering His rest.
Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, Savior, and King?
Have you been living your life in the way that He prescribed?
Are you a faithful disciple who has been effective in spreading the gospel, and making other disciples?
Are you truly submitted, surrendered, fully obedient, and completely dependent on God?
Prayer: Father God, I am waiting in readiness to enter your rest. I will do all the things that are necessary to ensure that I will not lose my place in your eternal rest. Help me to do everything You require so that I will not fall short of your promise. Amen.
