While Elisha was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “This disaster is from the Lord. Why should I wait for the Lord any longer? ”
2 Kings 6:33 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Wait: To stay proceedings, or suspend any business, in expectation of some person, event, or the arrival of some hour.
Has God ever spoken clearly to you but you didn’t like what He said?
Did God ever show up in a situation but you did not like how He showed up?
Have you been waiting on God and thinking that God should change what is happening, but when you listen to God He says that what is happening is His will?
Do you stubbornly wait for God to do things the way that is miraculous when another God-ordained option is present right in front of you?
Do you think that the trouble that you are in right now it’s caused by the devil? Could it not be that God has allowed these troubles because of how you have been acting?
Sometimes we need to realize that what is happening around us is because of our choices. We also need to realize that our just God will cause punishment to come upon us when we disobey Him. Should we not, therefore, change our stance from one of waiting to acceptance, when we realize that what is happening is God’s will.
2 Kings 6:33 reading from the Amplified Bible states that: While Elisha was still talking with them, the messenger came down to him [followed by the king] and the king said, “This evil [situation] is from the Lord! Why should I wait for [help from] the Lord any longer?”
Why are you still waiting on the Lord when He has already shown up?
Prayer: Lord God, in many of the circumstances in my life You have already shown up. Help me to see and know when. Show me so that I will wait no more!
Lord, even if I don’t understand why You are acting in that way help me to stop waiting and to accept Your unexpected appearance. Lord, even when I’m hoping that You are going to take away the consequences of my sin and You don’t, help me to accept and wait no more. Amen.
Lord, help us to be aware of your presence when you show up.
Amen
