Then David said to Uriah, “Wait here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next.
II Samuel 11:12 NKJV
Good morning fellow disciples.
Wait: To stay; not to depart.
Sometimes the duration that we need to wait is predetermined. In this case we see David telling Uriah that he should spend one more day and then he would send him on his way. We know that Uriah obeyed David and spent the required time before he was supposed to leave.
Generally speaking, people can be very impatient. They don’t want to wait when they go somewhere that has heavy traffic. This may be in a store, an office, on the road, and even at church.
Sometimes they try to avoid the wait by making appointments. This sometimes work out well for them because they know the exact time that they have to wait when they reach for their appointment. It is always good to know how long you have to wait before you receive what you need.
When God gives you a timeline for something to happen in your life, are you willing to wait?
Are you patiently waiting for God to fulfill His promise to you?
How many lives have you impacted by showing them your devotion to God by patiently waiting on Him?
Prayer: Father God, I am Your obedient servant. When You say wait, I will wait! When You say wait for a specific period of time, I will wait! When You don’t give a time period, I will STILL wait!
While I wait, I will continue to proclaim Your word, be obedient to You, and live my life in a manner that is pleasing to You. Amen
