Unwavering Presence- Andrew’s Steadfast Commitment

April 15, 2025

By Andrew Williams

“When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.” – Acts 1:13 (NIV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

Acts 1:13 provides a list of the apostles who gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem after Jesus’ ascension. Among those listed is Andrew, consistently present with the other disciples. This seemingly simple mention underscores Andrew’s unwavering commitment to the group and to the mission they had been given. While other figures may have had moments of greater prominence, Andrew’s consistent presence speaks to his faithfulness and dedication.

As a disciple, your presence matters. It’s easy to feel insignificant or overlooked, especially when compared to those who seem to be making a bigger splash. But like Andrew, your consistent commitment to your church, your small group, your prayer life, and your service to others makes a difference. Your unwavering presence provides stability, encouragement, and support to those around you. Don’t underestimate the impact of simply showing up, being faithful, and being a reliable member of the body of Christ.

This week, evaluate your own commitment to your church and to your fellow believers. Are you consistently present, offering your support, encouragement, and service? Look for ways to strengthen your commitment and to be a more reliable member of the community.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be a faithful and committed disciple, consistently present with my church and with my fellow believers. Strengthen my commitment to You and to the mission You have given me. Empower me to be a source of encouragement, support, and service to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
