“After this Paul stayed many days longer, and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow. And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there…” – Acts 18:18-19 (ESV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 18:18-19 reveals the continuing commitment and support of Aquila and Priscilla to Paul’s ministry. After laboring together in Corinth for some time, they accompany him on his journey as far as Ephesus. However, while Paul continues on to Syria, Aquila and Priscilla choose to remain in Ephesus. This passage highlights their dedication to serving God, as they stay to establish and nurture the church in a new and challenging location.
As a disciple, you may be called to serve in different locations, to support various ministries, or to take on challenging assignments. Aquila and Priscilla’s example reminds you of the importance of being faithful to your calling, even when it means leaving familiar surroundings and stepping into the unknown. You are empowered to embrace new opportunities, to serve with dedication, and to trust that God will use you to make a difference, wherever you may be. By redirecting our focus to the mission at hand, we can make sure to do our part for God.
This week, consider how you can be more faithful to your calling, whether it involves staying put, moving to a new location, or taking on a challenging assignment. Commit to serving God with dedication, trusting that He will equip you for the tasks He has called you to do.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the strength and courage to be faithful to your calling, wherever you may lead me. Help me to embrace new opportunities, to serve with dedication, and to trust that you will use me to make a difference in the world. May my life be a testament to your love, your grace, and your unwavering power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
