United in Purpose- Timothy’s Continued Association with Paul’s Apostolic Ministry

August 1, 2025

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God that is in Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:” – 2 Corinthians 1:1 (ESV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

2 Corinthians 1:1 reaffirms the close working relationship and shared authority between Paul and Timothy. Paul is writing from Macedonia and includes Timothy in the opening greeting as “Timothy our brother.” He doesn’t merely acknowledge him as a companion but identifies him as a fellow spiritual leader, someone united with him in purpose and authority to minister to the Corinthian church.

As a disciple, you are called to recognize and value the contributions of your fellow believers. Timothy’s example reminds you that true leadership is not about being the sole authority, but about working in partnership with others, recognizing their gifts, and supporting their ministry. You are empowered to be a team player, a collaborator, and a faithful partner in the work of the Gospel.

This week, intentionally affirm the gifts and contributions of those you serve alongside in your church or ministry. Express your appreciation for their work, their dedication, and their unique abilities. Seek to collaborate with them in meaningful ways, recognizing that you are all part of a larger team working towards a common goal.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to recognize and value the contributions of my fellow believers. Give me a heart for collaboration and a desire to work in unity with others for the advancement of your Kingdom. Empower me to be a supportive and encouraging member of your body, always seeking to build up those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
