Under Construction: The Work of the Spirit

October 9, 2025

By Andrew Williams

Opening Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank you for being our constant Helper and Guide. Empower us today to become more like Jesus.

Today’s Scripture (NLT)
John 14:26
“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

When you begin your journey with Christ, you are not left to figure things out on your own. Jesus promised to send a divine Helper, an Advocate, who would live inside every believer: the Holy Spirit. If you are a Christian, the third person of the Trinity—God Himself—has taken up residence in your heart.

This is a truth that changes everything. The Holy Spirit is the power source for your spiritual growth. He is the one who “will teach you everything,” helping you understand the Bible and apply it to your life. He is the one who will “remind you” of Jesus’ words, bringing comfort, conviction, and guidance when you need it most.

Your life is now a construction site, and the Holy Spirit is the master builder. He is at work, shaping your character, transforming your desires, and empowering you to live in a way that honors God. The Christian life is not about trying harder in your own strength; it’s about learning to cooperate with the work the Holy Spirit is already doing in you.

Disciples’ Life Tip: Throughout your day, practice acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s presence. You can pray simple prayers like, “Holy Spirit, guide my words in this conversation,” or “Holy Spirit, help me to be patient in this moment.”

Closing Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for being our ever-present Helper. We surrender to Your work in us today. Have Your way in our lives. Amen.
