Trusted Messenger- Silas’ Integrity and Leadership in Spreading the Truth

July 4, 2025

By Andrew Williams

“Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers…” – Acts 15:22 (ESV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

Acts 15:22 marks a significant moment for Silas, highlighting the high regard in which he was held by the church in Jerusalem. After the Jerusalem Council reached its decision, the apostles, elders, and the whole church agreed to send representatives to Antioch along with Paul and Barnabas to communicate the decision. Silas, described as one of the “leading men among the brothers,” was chosen for this important task. This passage underscores the value of integrity, leadership, and the ability to communicate truth with clarity and conviction.

As a disciple, you are called to be a faithful messenger of the Gospel and to uphold the truth of God’s Word. Silas’ example reminds you of the importance of cultivating integrity, developing your leadership skills, and learning to communicate effectively. You are empowered to be a trusted voice, a reliable source of information, and a champion for truth within your church.

This week, commit to deepening your understanding of God’s Word and to strengthening your ability to communicate its truths to others. Look for opportunities to serve as a trusted source of information and to uphold integrity in your words and actions. Remember, it is important to be accurate in relaying information.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me a heart for truth and a desire to communicate Your Word with clarity and conviction. Help me to cultivate integrity in all that I do and to be a trusted voice within my church and community. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that my words may be a blessing to others and may lead them to discover the joy of knowing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
