Trusted Delegate- Timothy’s Service in Strategic Missions

July 29, 2025

By Andrew Williams

“Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem, saying, ‘After I have been there, I must also see Rome.’ And having sent into Macedonia two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.” – Acts 19:21-22 (ESV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

Acts 19:21-22 highlights Timothy’s proven reliability and value as a ministry partner. Paul, making strategic plans for his future travels, decides to send Timothy and Erastus ahead to Macedonia while he remains in Ephesus for a time. This decision reveals Paul’s trust in Timothy’s abilities, his commitment to teamwork, and his strategic approach to advancing the Gospel.

As a disciple, you may be called to serve in various roles, to take on different responsibilities, and to support the ministry of others. Timothy’s example reminds you to be willing to be sent, to be entrusted with important tasks, and to be a faithful representative of Christ in all that you do. Your reliability, your competence, and your willingness to serve can make a significant difference in the success of a ministry team.

This week, reflect on how you can be a more reliable and trustworthy member of your church or ministry team. Offer your skills, your talents, and your time to support the work of others. Be willing to take on responsibilities, to follow through on your commitments, and to represent your leaders with integrity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be a reliable and trustworthy servant in your Kingdom. Give me the wisdom to discern your will, the courage to step into new roles, and the commitment to serve others with excellence. May my life be a testament to your love, your grace, and your unwavering power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
