Opening Prayer:
Creator God, in the quiet moments of our lives, help us to hear the questions our hearts are asking. Amen
Today’s Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:11a(NLT)
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”
Have you ever felt it? That quiet, nagging feeling that no matter what you achieve, purchase, or experience, something is still missing. It’s a deep, unspoken emptiness that can surface in the middle of a crowd or in the silence of the night. We try to fill it with relationships, success, entertainment, or a thousand other things, but the feeling always returns.
This scripture gives us the reason why. God Himself has “planted eternity in the human heart.” Think about that. The Creator of the universe has placed a homing signal inside every one of us, a longing for something that this temporary world can never satisfy. That emptiness you feel isn’t a flaw; it’s a feature. It’s a divine signal telling you that you were made for more than just what you can see.
That ache in your soul is a sign that you were made for a journey home, a journey back to the One who planted eternity in you. It’s an invitation to stop trying to fill a God-shaped void with world-shaped things and to start seeking the only One who can make you whole.
Disciples’ Life Tip:
Don’t run from the feeling of emptiness today. Instead, acknowledge it. In a quiet moment, simply say out loud, “God, if this feeling is from you, show me the way home.”
Closing Prayer: Father, thank you for planting a desire for eternity in us. Help us to recognize that the emptiness we feel is a compass pointing us directly to you. Amen.
