Pilate asked them again, “Then what do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews? ” Again they shouted, “Crucify Him! ”
Mark 15:12-13 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Are you someone who has been placed in a position of authority?
Sometimes that authority allows you to make decisions without the input of others. Your decisions are final but sometimes you crave the input of others. Your decision is based on the evidence that is placed in front of you. Sometimes that evidence leads to a speedy decision, but sometimes the evidence does not lead to the end result that others would want.
Some of us who are in authority are men pleasers! Even when we see that the decisions we are about to make are wrong, we do it anyway so that we can please others.
How do you use your position of authority?
Do you exercise that authority based on the evidence?
Do you exercise your authority to please men?
Do you use your authority in the God ordained way?
In this passage we see Pilate about to make a decision about Jesus. How will he exercise his authority?
How do you exercise the authority that you have?
Prayer: Father God, help me today to exercise the authority that You have given me, to bring glory and honor to You. Help me not to be swayed by people, emotions, or bribes. Help me to do what is pleasing in Your sight. Amen
