The Need for an Intercessor

By Andrew Williams

I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends.
Job 16:21 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

Intercede: to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences; to mediate; to plead on someone else’s behalf; or to intervene on behalf of another.

Job had just lost his family, his health and his possessions. He might have been wondering what he had done or not done to God to deserve such punishment. In his mind, he knew he was in right standing with God, but his friends kept on saying that Job was at fault.

His friends, instead of interceding on his behalf with God, were finding fault with Job and blaming him for his current predicament. His wife had told him earlier to curse God and just die.

No one In Job’s life was interceding on his behalf with God. This must have been so awful for Job to endure.

Can you imagine the desperation and emotion in Job’s voice as he said: “I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends.”

What are you dealing with?

Are you in need of an intercessor?

Prayer: Father God, when Job made this request, our Lord Jesus Christ had not sacrificed Himself on our behalf as yet. We are all in need of an intercessor. We need of an Intercessor!

Lord Jesus, we know that You live to forever intercede on our behalf. We are eternally grateful for You, Lord. Please intercede with Father God as friend with friend, and mediate on our behalf, I pray. Amen.
