“The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the Lord, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle”): “Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised.” Obadiah 1:1-2 NKJV
Good morning fellow disciples. In a previous post we looked at what a vision was. Today we will begin looking at the vision that Obadiah received.
Edom was descended from Esau whose brother Jacob was the father of all the Israelites . God used Obadiah to give Edom the warning that they were about to be judged. As we look at these verses we see two things:
1. God was going to use all the nations to discipline and judge Edom, and
2. He was going to humble Edom in the sight of all the nations and make Edom despised by everyone.
We need to be reminded that even though at times it seems as if we’re getting away with sinning against God or oppressing people, that Father God sees everything. At a time of His choosing He will punish, He will discipline, or He will reward us for the choices that we have made.
We need to be reminded that God can use anyone or everyone as the instruments of His punishment, discipline or reward. Take a moment to examine yourself and see if you are walking the way that God wants you to. Take a moment to ponder how you think God should respond to your way of life and the way you treat Him or others.
Prayer : Father God we stand exposed before you. As we ponder these words “Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the Lord, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying,”…… we fall on our knees in repentance before You! We don’t want you to continue talking about us the way you did about Edom.
God I pray it is not too late to stop Your judgement on me, on us Lord. Forgive me/us I pray. I /We turn from my/our sinful ways and now turn to serve You wholeheartedly. Accept me/us I pray, and teach us how to live daily surrendered and submitted to You! This I/we ask in Jesus’ Name, amen.
Amen. Have Mercy upon us dear Lord as we repent and surrender to You.
