James 4:6 – “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’”
Good morning fellow disciples.
Humble: reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission.
When we humble ourselves in our conversations (prayers) with God, it allows us to approach Him with a teachable and receptive spirit. Humility fosters deeper fellowship with God and strengthens our relationship with Him because we will honor God more.
When we are consumed by pride, we tend to focus inwardly, relying on our own strength, accomplishments and perceived superiority rather than humbly recognizing our need for God’s grace and guidance. This attitude of independence and self-reliance can prevent us from surrendering to God and fully embracing His love, wisdom and purpose for our lives.
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. But guess what? He gives us more grace because we are His humble, loyal, surrendered, and submitted sons!
Fellow disciples, let us pray with humble hearts, acknowledging our dependence on God.
Prayer: Father God, we love You. We surrender and submit to You. We come to you humble, and expectant that our conversations with You will lead to greater fellowship between us. Teach and guide us how to live as your humble sons. Amen.
