And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
Romans 8:26-27 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
In the last series we looked at making petitions on our own behalf. In this month series of devotionals, we will be looking at interceding on behalf of others.
Intercede: to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences; mediate; to plead on someone else’s behalf; or intervene on behalf of another.
My fellow disciples, God loves us!
He wants us to live holy because He is Holy. In our conversations with God, known as prayer, we sometimes:
1. Do not know what to say,
2. Do not know how to say what we need to,
3. Are afraid to speak because of sin in our lives,
4. Are in need of someone to petition on our behalf,
5. Are in need of someone to intervene on behalf of us, or
6. Need someone to mediate between us and God.
Sometimes we may call on someone else to intercede on our behalf with God, but sometimes our fellow disciples are also unable to intercede in the way that is necessary. In these situations we need someone who understands the mind of God, who understands what God requires of us, and who understands how to speak to God in a way that reconciles us unto God.
The only person on earth who knows the mind of God, and who can intercede for us in harmony in God’s will is the Holy Spirit!
Isn’t this Wonderful?
Isn’t it wonderful to know that there is someone who can always effectively intercede with God on our behalf?
Isn’t it wonderful to know that God’s Holy Spirit lives in us and that He intercedes on our behalf when we don’t know how to pray?
Isn’t it wonderful to know that when you do not know how to pray on behalf of others, that the Holy Spirit will speak to God instead of you?
Prayer: Father God, You are my God! There are many times that I do not know how to pray according to Your will. In my weaknesses I don’t know how to bridge the gap between us. In those times I feel so disconnected from You. I thank You Lord, that Your Holy Spirit who lives in me will pray on my behalf.
I love You Holy Spirit! Thank You for helping me in my weakness, and for pleading on my behalf according to God’s will. Amen.
Amen
