The Final Hours -The Nonverbal Conversations Part 5

By Andrew Williams

And they led Him to Golgotha [in Latin: Calvary], meaning The Place of a Skull. And they [attempted to] give Him wine mingled with myrrh, but He would not take it.
Mark 15:22‭-‬23 AMPC
The Final Hours -The Nonverbal Conversations – Part 5

Good morning fellow disciples.

Some people believe that the purpose of the wine mingled with myrrh was to decrease the intensity of the pain that was felt during crucifixion. They believe that it would intoxicate the criminal and make them drowsy. This was done to diminish the intensity of the suffering that they would have during crucifixion.

It seemed as if Jesus knew this, but He refused! Why would He do this?

If Jesus was to pay the price for the sins of the world, how could He not fully pay it?

How could he choose to diminish the suffering that He would undergo!

He could not dull or numb that suffering because He had to experience everything!

He had to take ALL of our suffering! He had to endure it so that His payment would cover every sin!

He had to endure it so that the sacrifice of His life would bring about total salvation, total deliverance, and total healing for everyone!
