And when they had [finished] making sport of Him, they took the purple [robe] off of Him and put His own clothes on Him. And they led Him out [of the city] to crucify Him.
Mark 15:20 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
In the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life the focus was on those who hated Him, who envied Him, who despised Him, who convicted Him, and who would sanction and put into effect His crucifixion. I believe the focus needs to be here because it shows the reason why Jesus gave up His life.
They had done all these evil things to Him and now they are about to bring Him to the place where they would crucify Him.
What we observe happening in the last 24 hours of Jesus life was all for a purpose. It was predicted and it was ordained by God. Let us remind ourselves of the reason why Jesus had to go through this:
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:3-6 KJV
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus for redeeming us! Thank You for taking our wounds, brusies, and chastisement. Your sacrifice saved us all. We are forever grateful to you. Amen.
