Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, you have given us the greatest mission in the world. Give us the courage to see ourselves as you see us: as your commissioned ambassadors.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Matthew 28:19-20a
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”
For the past three weeks, we have focused on our inward life with God: abiding in Him, growing in Him, and resting in Him. This is the essential foundation. But the Christian life was never meant to stop there. A healthy life naturally reproduces. The natural overflow of a life transformed by Jesus is a desire to see others transformed by Jesus.
These famous words, known as the Great Commission, were not just spoken to the eleven disciples on the mountain that day. They are the standing orders for every follower of Jesus in every generation, including you. The command is simple and direct: “go and make disciples.” A disciple is more than just a convert; it is a lifelong learner and follower of Jesus.
This isn’t a special calling for pastors, missionaries, or the “super-spiritual.” It is the normal Christian life. God has placed you in a unique network of relationships—family, friends, coworkers, neighbors—that no one else has. Embracing your role in the Great Commission is the ultimate expression of a “Beyond Sunday” faith. It’s where your personal faith becomes a public legacy.
Disciples’ Life Tip: Pray this simple but life-altering prayer today: “Lord, who in my sphere of influence are you calling me to disciple? Open my eyes to see the people you have placed in my path.”
Closing Prayer: Father God, thank You for inviting us to be a part of Your great redemptive mission. Replace our fear with faith, and our apathy with a holy passion to make disciples for Your glory. Amen.
