Opening Prayer
Jesus, thank you for being the way when we were lost. Help us to see you today as the only bridge that can lead us home.
Today’s Scripture: John 14:6(NLT)
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'”
We’ve established that sin creates a great chasm between us and a holy God. On our own, we are stuck on one side, unable to cross over. We can try to build our own bridges out of good works, religion, or self-improvement, but they will always fall short. The gap is simply too wide.
In this moment of human impossibility, God provided the divine solution. He didn’t just shout instructions from the other side; He came across to us. That is the message of Jesus. Jesus isn’t just a good teacher or a moral example; He declares Himself to be the way. He is the bridge.
Notice His exclusive and all-encompassing claim. He is the Way to a relationship with God, the Truth that answers our deepest questions, and the Life that fills our emptiness. He is not a way; He is the way. This isn’t an arrogant claim; it is a loving and clear direction. Like a rescuer throwing a single, secure lifeline to a drowning person, Jesus offers the one and only path back to the Father. The journey home has a name, and that name is Jesus.
Disciples’ Life Tip: Consider the different “bridges” you may have tried to build to God or to happiness (being a “good person,” success, relationships). Take a moment to thank Jesus for being the one perfect bridge that doesn’t depend on your own effort.
Closing Prayer: Father God, thank You for not leaving us stranded. Thank You for sending Jesus to be our bridge, our way back to You. We will stop building our own bridges and to trust in the one You have provided. Amen.
