Genesis 12:1-2 NLT- The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
Good morning fellow disciples.
One of the things I dislike the most is when people tell me that I must carry on my dad’s legacy or that I am just like him. Don’t misunderstand me! My dislike of their statement has nothing to do with my views about my dad.
I don’t just want to carry on a legacy, I want to start one!
Legacy is defined as ‘something that is passed on’. But Legacy can take many forms.
• A Legacy may be of one’s faith, ethics and core values,
• It may be money or your assets,
• A Legacy may come from one’s character, reputation and the life you lead – which sets an example for others and guide their futures,
• Legacies often tremendously impact, encourage and leave pathways for future generations, and
• Legacies provide guidance and inspiration for family members and those impacted by you to live lives that impact their faith, homes, community and businesses.
I’m sure that Abram loved his family, but he loved God more. When God told him to leave everything and everyone that was familiar to him, he did.
He did this because he trusted God and desired to live according to God’s plan and purpose for his life {even though he didn’t fully understand it}.
Because of his obedience, he started a legacy that is still talked about today.
I want to be like Abraham, who started a Godly legacy that extends throughout time.
Don’t you?
Prayer: Father God, help me to start a legacy in my family – one where each and every member serves You wholeheartedly! Amen.
Profound!
