“When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him anymore, but went on his way rejoicing. But Philip appeared at Azotus, and as he traveled about, he preached the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.” – Acts 8:39-40 (ESV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 8:39-40 reveals the miraculous and purposeful nature of Philip’s ministry. Immediately after baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch, “the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away,” demonstrating the immediate and powerful action of God. The eunuch continued on his journey rejoicing, while Philip found himself supernaturally transported to Azotus. From there, he continued to preach the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea. This passage underscores the sovereignty of God in directing His servants and the boundless reach of the Gospel message.
As a disciple, you may not always understand where God is leading you or why He asks you to do certain things. Philip’s example reminds you to trust in God’s sovereignty and to be obedient to His leading, even when it seems illogical or unexpected. You are empowered to be a vessel of His love, His grace, and His truth, wherever He may send you.
This week, surrender your plans to God and be open to His leading in your life. Trust that He knows what is best for you and that He will use you to accomplish His purposes, wherever you may be. Look for opportunities to share the Gospel with those you encounter and to be a witness to His love and power.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I surrender my plans to You and I ask for Your guidance in my life. Help me to trust in Your sovereignty and to be obedient to Your leading, even when it seems illogical or unexpected. Use me to be a vessel of Your love, Your grace, and Your truth in the world. May my life be a reflection of Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
