“ And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.” Hebrews 12:5 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
How can you be encouraged when you hear that you are going to be disciplined and corrected by someone? These words tend to have some negative connotations, but let’s take a closer look at what this verse is saying.
God speaks encouraging words:
“My child don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline {training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character}.”
Isn’t it wonderfully encouraging that the Lord’s training corrects, molds, and perfects us? Our Father God wants to make us the best that we can be by disciplining us!
And don’t give up when he corrects you {makes or sets you right}.
Why would you want to give up when you know that the purpose of God’s correction is to set you right with Him, thus making you His beloved child?
Those who resist God’s discipline and correction are rebellious and disobedient.
Do you resist or do you accept the Lord’s discipline and correction?
Accept, and be a son who embraces and thrives on correction!
Prayer: Father God, I look forward daily to your discipline and correction. I will delight in them because I know You love me. Amen
