Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
Ephesians 5:18-19 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life! Take that as a command. Now, let’s focus on what disciples of Christ should DO.
BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT!
We are encouraged by Paul to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to sing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among ourselves. We are supposed to praise God together. Do you do that on a regular basis with your fellow disciples?
Paul also encourages us to make music in our hearts to the Lord. When you seem to be silent with a smile on your face, are you singing on the inside to the Lord?
Heart can be defined as one’s innermost character, feelings, or inclinations. Do you sing unto God based on your innermost character, your feelings, or inclinations?
Our praise to God, our singing to the Lord, needs to be both internal and external. We need to do it with our complete selves. We need to praise God with all our heart, mind, strength, and soul.
Be filled with the Holy Spirit and sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs onto the Lord!
Amen
