Numbers 11:17 NLT– I will come down and talk to you there. I will take some of the Spirit that is upon you, and I will put the Spirit upon them also. They will bear the burden of the people along with you, so you will not have to carry it alone.
Good morning fellow disciples.
Moses, the appointed leader of Israel, was constantly getting complaints from the people. He had gone to the Lord and complained that he was not able to carry this burden alone. God told him to gather 70 elders from Israel to share this burden.
These men were already recognized as elders and leaders in Israel. In order for them to share the burden of leading the people with Moses, God had to empower them to do so.
How would God empower them?
The same way Moses was empowered was the same way that God would empower them. God had already given Moses His Holy Spirit, so now God would also empower these 70 elders with His Holy Spirit.
How did God do this?
He told Moses that He would take some of the Spirit that was already on Moses and place the Spirit on the elders. This wasn’t a different Spirit. He was the same Holy Spirit that was on Moses.
There is only one Holy Spirit! As believers in Christ, we also have Him. We all share Him!
God’s Holy Spirit is the one who empowers us to do the work of ministry, just like He did with Moses and the 70 elders.
Are you doing the work that God has called you to and empowered you to do with His Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for showing us that we do not have to bear this burden alone. We share the burden with Your Holy Spirit and everyone else that He has been given to. Amen.
