Self reflection – Pass The Baton

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

As we do our last self reflection for the month, the topic is “Pass the Baton.” As in any relay race, when you run your leg, you pass the baton onto another person.

Paul states here in second Timothy 4:7 that, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”.

Have you fought the good fight? Have you finished your race? Are you about to finish your race? Have you kept the faith? When you leave this life or when you leave where you are currently staying, or currently working, who will be there to pick up where you left off?

Have you trained anyone? Have you discipled anyone? Have you commissioned someone to take over the role that you have been playing? Have you discipled someone in the ways of Christ so that they are even better than you have been?

I ask these questions because, as we reflect on ourselves we need to realize that we can have an impact on the persons around us. We need to do what God has called us to do so that we can empower them to do the work of Christ.

We were not meant to just come here and live on Earth and just do whatever we like. We were sent here, we were placed here by God to do the work that would advance His Kingdom! Part of the way that we can do that is to empower others to continue the call that God has placed on our lives by empowering and discipling others to do God’s work.

Have you been doing that? If not, it’s not too late to start. If you have, have you completed their training and have you set them free to go and do what they have been taught to do?

Prayer: Father God, help me to fulfill my role to make disciples and to empower them to keep making disciples. I am keeping the faith, I’m running the race and I will keep training others to continue after I am gone. Amen.
