When David finished saying these things to him, Saul replied, “Is that your voice, David my son? ” Then Saul wept aloud and said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have done what is good to me though I have done what is evil to you. You yourself have told me today what good you did for me: when the Lord handed me over to you, you didn’t kill me.
1 Samuel 24:16-18 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Have you ever been so set on doing something that you thought was right, that you thought was in your best interest, or that you thought was God ordained?
Did it take a conversation with someone for you to realize that what you have been hell bent on doing was totally wrong? Did that encounter come with someone that you were about to do something to, and then when you realized their character, you realized how wrong you were? There are many ways that we can figure out when we are wrong, but the question is, “what do we do when we come to that realization?”
In this passage we see King Saul realizing that David had the opportunity to kill him, but David refused to do so because of David’s love for God and David’s respect for his vows with God. Saul, on the other hand, had been chasing David for years, trying to kill him and now that they were face to face, Saul realized that David was the better man and that he King Saul was wrong.
Today, as you self reflect, can you see where you have wronged others? Can you see where you have made mistakes, wrong choices, or came to wrong conclusions in your mind?
If you have, then today, actually right now is the best time for you to repent of those sins. Ask to be forgiven and move forward with your life. Repent, turn away from the wrong that you were about to do, the wrong that you have done, and turn to God. Do the right thing for the persons or the person that you have wronged.
Prayer: Father God, I was wrong when I sinned against You. I was wrong when I hurt my brother and sister in Christ. I was wrong when I hurt others. It wasn’t right when I wrongly accused others of doing things that they didn’t do.
Please forgive me Father God. I pray that as I seek forgiveness from all whom I have wronged that they will also forgive me. I repent, I turn from doing wrong and I turn to You and submit and surrender to Your will for my life. From today onwards I will choose to do what is right in Your sight. I will do what is best for my fellow man.
I also choose to forgive those who have wronged me and I set them free to start living their lives for You. Amen
