Self Reflection – I Make Better Decisions When I Know God

Again they wept loudly, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. Naomi said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law.”
Ruth 1:14‭-‬15 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

Do you remember the life decisions you made when you were not following Christ? Do you remember some of the decisions you made when you just converted? Do you see the decisions that you are now making that you are following Christ wholeheartedly?

In which stage of your life did you make the best life decisions?

In the book of Ruth, we see Orpah and Ruth faced with the choice of staying in the land that they were born and serving false gods or going with Naomi and serving the true God. Both girls had married into a family that serve the one true God Yahweh, so they knew the difference between serving their false gods and the true God.

All of us at one point or another have been living in a life of sin but when we are introduced to living the Christ-like way, we sometimes struggle to make a choice. But when we get to KNOW Christ then the decisions we make will be Christlike.

We see Ruth’s determination as she chooses not only to stay with her mother-in-law, but also to serve Yahweh.

“But Ruth replied: Do not persuade me to leave you or go back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May Yahweh punish me, and do so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.”
Ruth 1:16‭-‬17 HCSB

Prayer: My Lord and my God, I choose You! I will live my life totally surrendered and submitted to You. This is the best decision I have ever made. And now Lord, I will make all my life decisions based on Your word and my fellowship with You. Amen.
