Yet, when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.
Mark 16:11 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
They did not believe!
They did not believe!
Accepting what seems impossible is hard for us. Accepting what seems improbable is equally as hard.
These guys had just witnessed Jesus being crucified! They knew that He was dead. Some of them might have even been there when He was being buried.
The only person that they knew who raised persons from the dead had died. If He was dead, then who would be the one to raise Him from the dead? The apostles themselves were in this party of persons who were grieving and mourning. They had lost all hope!
They had forgotten Jesus’ promises and prophecies. They had heard them and probably didn’t understand what he meant, so now when they heard that He was alive, they did not believe.
Are you a disciple of Christ?
Are you like these disciples who have heard the word of God but have not accepted all of it?
Are you a follower or an adherent of Christ {one who knows His teachings but not fully accepting of everything that He has said}?
Or, are you a faith filled disciple who believes every word that Jesus has ever spoken?
Prayer: Lord God, Your words are true! Help us to always believe them despite what we may be going through. Let us not base our beliefs on what we have seen, or on what we are feeling. Help us to know that Your word is truth and that no word of Yours is idly said.
We Believe Your word because it is Your Word! Amen.
