I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Luke 5:32 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
As a child of God, who do you spend most of your time with? Who do you spend time talking to about God? Is it your fellow disciples, your church members or is it with persons who are in need of being saved?
Remember that the Pharisees and other religious persons had a problem with Jesus spending time with the sinners. They wanted Jesus to spend time with them because they were already righteous (in their own sight).
Well, what did Jesus say? “I did not come to spend time with godly people, I came to spend time with the sinners. I will show them who I am, who God is and how God is working through me. With this revelation they will now make life changing decisions that will bring them out of sin.”
As a disciple of Christ, I ask again: “Who are you spending your time with?”
Would it be better spent with persons who are in need of healing, salvation, and deliverance than those who already understand and know what it is to know Christ?
We are called to be witnesses, witnesses for God’s Kingdom. We are called to be ambassadors in God’s Kingdom, so let us do that. Let us do as Jesus said and, go make disciples wherever we go, teaching them, baptizing them, and showing them how to live the Christlike life.
As you spend time with those in need, may they become aware of their need to repent of their sinful lifestyle so that they can be forgiven by God and become a part of God’s family. If you are the one who is in need of that life changing encounter with God, repent and be forgiven.
Prayer: O Lord, don’t punish me angrily for what I’ve done. Don’t let my sin inflame your wrath against me.
I’m overwhelmed, swamped, and submerged beneath the heavy burden of my guilt. It clings to me and won’t let me go. I am completely broken because of what I’ve done.
Gloom is all around me. My sins have bent me over to the ground. Lord, you know all my desires and deepest longings. My tears are liquid words, and you can read them all.
Lord, the only thing I can do is wait and put my hope in you. I wait for your help, my God.
I’m slipping away and on the verge of a breakdown, with nothing but sorrow and sighing. I confess all my sin to you; I can’t hold it in any longer. My agonizing thoughts punish me for my wrongdoing; I feel condemned as I consider all I’ve done.
So don’t forsake me now, Lord! Don’t leave me in this condition. God, hurry to help me. Run to my rescue! For you’re my Savior and my only hope! Amen
