“But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.” – Acts 15:35 (ESV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 15:35 reveals Barnabas’ continued commitment to his calling and to the church in Antioch. After the challenging journey to Jerusalem and the successful resolution of the theological dispute, Paul and Barnabas did not rest on their laurels. Instead, they “remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.” This passage underscores the importance of consistency, perseverance, and a steadfast focus on the core mission of making disciples.
As a disciple, you are called to be consistent in your faith, to persevere through challenges, and to remain focused on the core mission of making disciples. Barnabas’ example reminds you that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey and that faithfulness in the ordinary tasks of ministry is just as important as the extraordinary moments. You are empowered to dedicate yourself to prayer, to study the Scriptures, to share your faith, and to serve others, knowing that God will use your faithfulness to advance His Kingdom.
This week, examine your commitment to the core practices of your faith. Are you consistently spending time in prayer, studying the Scriptures, and sharing your faith with others? Identify one area where you can strengthen your commitment and make a plan to do so.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be consistent in my faith, to persevere through challenges, and to remain focused on the core mission of making disciples. Give me a hunger for Your Word, a passion for prayer, and a desire to share Your love with others. May my life be a testament to Your faithfulness and may I be a blessing to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
