The Living Gospel (Week 3: Crafting Your Testimony)

Opening Prayer
Holy Spirit, we rely on you. Give us the right words at the right time, and give the listener ears to hear the truth of Jesus.

Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Luke 12:11-12
“And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

After a week of practical tips on crafting your testimony, we end with the most important principle: ultimate reliance on the Holy Spirit. One of the biggest fears that keeps us from sharing our story is the fear of being asked a question we can’t answer. What if they ask about science? Or other religions? Or suffering?

Jesus gives His disciples this incredible promise. He tells them not to worry, because the Holy Spirit will give them the words they need in the moment. While this was a specific promise for them, the principle applies to us. We should be prepared, but we must not rely on our preparation. We rely on the Holy Spirit.

Sharing your testimony is a partnership. You do your part—you pray, you prepare, you listen. But the Holy Spirit does the heavy lifting. He is the one who convicts hearts, opens minds, and gives you the right words. It’s perfectly okay to say, “That’s a great question, I don’t know the answer, but I can tell you what I do know…” and then share your story. Your job is to be a faithful witness, not a flawless debater.

Disciples’ Life Tip: Before you enter a conversation where you might share your faith, pray this simple prayer of reliance: “Holy Spirit, I’m available. Speak through me. This is your work, not mine.”

Closing Prayer: Father God, thank You that the results are not up to me. Free me from the pressure of having to have all the answers. May I be a humble and prepared witness who rely completely on the power of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
