Redirecting Our Focus to – God’s Sabbath Rest

By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.
Genesis 2:2‭-‬3 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

Rest is defined as: to be free from anxiety or disturbance; cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength.

God rested from His work of creation in order to relax, not to sleep or to recover strength. He didn’t do it in order to be free from anxiety or disturbance. We realize that God, after resting from His work of creation spent time fellowshipping with man and ruling over His kingdom.

God’s Sabbath rest is related to His kingdom, so what are you doing with His Sabbath rest? If you define it as the seventh day the question remains, what are you doing then? If you look at it at the time after God created and is now spending time looking to fellowship with man, the question remains the same. What are you doing with God’s Sabbath rest?

Are you spending time fellowshipping with Him? Are you spending time fulfilling your assigned Kingdom responsibilities?

Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Sabbath rest. In it You stopped creating and then You started fellowshipping with mankind. I want to enjoy Your Sabbath rest. I want to fellowship with You and I want to rest from my work. In this time spent with You I will be free from disturbance and anxiety. Teach me how to enjoy Your Sabbath rest, I pray. Amen.
