Acts 10:28-29 “Peter told them, ‘You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean. So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.’”
Good morning fellow disciples.
In this passage, Peter acknowledges the cultural and religious barriers that once defined his thinking. As a Jewish man, it was considered unlawful for him to associate with Gentiles. However, Peter reveals that God had expanded his understanding through a vision, teaching him that no person should be considered impure or unclean. Peter’s willingness to obey God and enter Cornelius’ home shows a powerful shift: he redirected his focus from human traditions and biases to God’s inclusive and redemptive plan. This openness sets the stage for a deeper revelation of God’s love for all people, regardless of background or heritage.
Peter’s obedience in setting aside cultural norms to follow God’s direction encourages us to examine our own hearts. As disciples, we are called to see people through God’s eyes, not through the lens of prejudice, tradition, or societal expectations. God’s love knows no boundaries, and His plan of salvation is for everyone. We are empowered to redirect our focus from our own preconceived ideas or biases and align our perspective with God’s inclusive Kingdom vision. Like Peter, we can step into situations that challenge us, trusting God to guide us in love and truth.
This week, take a moment to reflect on any assumptions, biases, or barriers that might prevent you from connecting with others or sharing God’s love. Ask God to show you areas where you need to align your view with His. Redirect your focus by stepping out of your comfort zone—reach out to someone who is different from you culturally, socially, or spiritually. Engage in a conversation or act of kindness, letting God’s love flow through you as you embrace His perspective.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for showing me through Peter’s example that Your love is for everyone, and that no one is beyond the reach of Your grace. Forgive me for the times I’ve let my own perceptions or biases prevent me from seeing others as You do. Help me to redirect my focus to Your perspective, breaking down any barriers in my heart that keep me from fully loving and serving others. Teach me to walk in obedience to Your call, trusting You to lead me into deeper connections with those who need to hear Your truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
