Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
The saints fellowshipped with each other day by day, both in the temple and in their homes. The meetings in the temple probably consisted of teachings, and the meetings in the homes featured fellowship meals with each other. We notice that they ate together with humility and joy.
All the while they were praising God and they had favor among all the people. Wouldn’t it be great if that was how we behaved now as disciples?
We might say that we have our jobs to go to. We might say we have other responsibilities to tend to. We might say that it’s not feasible to live this way. But, can we honestly say that the Christian lives that we’re living now emulates that of the early church?
What is lacking in our fellowship?
Do we have a joyful and humble attitude when we meet together?
Is our fellowship full of praising God, and do we find favor among all the people?
Let us first devote ourselves to God and then to each other! Let us live as Jesus commanded, showing love one to another, so that the world will see what it truly means to be disciples of Christ.
Prayer: Father God, help us to put You in the center of everything. It’s Your kingdom! It’s Your gospel! We are Your children!
We will be obedient to the teachings and the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will fellowship together in ways that will bring honor and glory to You Father God. Amen.
