Redirecting Our Focus to – Fellowship with God

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. So the Lord God called out to the man and said to him, “Where are you? ” And he said, “I heard You in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”
Genesis 3:8‭-‬10 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

In this passage, we see Adam and Eve hiding themselves from God. We see that God came to walk in the garden to spend time with Adam and Eve but they hid themselves. They hid for a good reason. That reason was that they had just sinned against God and they had found out that they were no longer in right standing with Him. They now felt shame and guilt, and they saw themselves uncovered. They were naked.

We can assume that God used to walk with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening, and would fellowship with them. Now that fellowship was broken, and man hid himself from God.

This society that we live in, that we were born into, is one where man has been hiding himself from God. Man has been living in a way that shows that his choices are in disobedience to God. Disobedience to God severs our fellowship with Him.

Fellowship is something that God wants to have with us. He wanted it then with Adam and Eve and He still wants it with us today. He is seeking us, but many of us are hiding from Him because of the sin that is in our lives.

What do you want today? Do you want to fellowship with God? Do you want to focus on fellowshipping with Him in the way that He desires?

My fellow disciples, God is waiting for us to come to Him from our place of hiding. He is willing to make things right with us, if only we will choose His way.

Prayer: Father God, as I think about redirecting my focus to fellowship with You, help me to realize that no sin is too great to keep us apart. I repent God of all my sins and I ask You to forgive me.

I ask You to renew and restore our fellowship. Give me the opportunity to walk with You once again, to share with You, to learn from You, to be loved by You and to love You like a child loves his father. Amen.
