Redirecting Our Focus to – Being Disciples

Then He went up the mountain and summoned those He wanted, and they came to Him. He also appointed 12 — He also named them apostles — to be with Him, to send them out to preach, and to have authority to drive out demons.
Mark 3:13‭-‬15 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

Are you a follower or a disciple?

A follower is: a person who supports and admires a particular person or set of ideas.

A disciple is: one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another.

Many persons claim to be followers of Christ otherwise known as Christians. But this definition of follower says that they admire or support that person or that ministry.

Does this make them disciples of Christ?
NO, IT DOES NOT!

A disciple of Christ is someone who accepts and assists in spreading the gospel that Jesus Christ proclaimed.
ARE YOU DOING THIS?

In Mark 3:13‭-‬15 says that Jesus summoned His followers and chose those that He wanted and then sent them out to preach and to drive out demons. It was when Jesus chose them that they became His disciples, and He signified this by empowering them to preach the gospel with signs and wonders following.

Many of us have spent years in church, we’ve been baptized, but we’ve never spread the gospel or done the things that Jesus told His disciples to do. All that does is make you an admirer of Christ, and definitely not a disciple.

Wouldn’t you want to be a disciple?

Prayer: Father God, I’m tired of following Jesus! I want to be His DISCIPLE, and actually preach the gospel with signs and wonders following. I want to be used by You to advance Your kingdom here on Earth. Amen.
