Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the necks of your enemies; your father’s sons will bow down to you.
Genesis 49:8 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Praise is defined as: the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something.
In one way or another, we all seek approval and admiration for something that we have done, or that we are doing. We want to be praised for our good works, and we want to be praised because of who we are.
We strive to be the best at whatever we are doing so that persons will admire us or give us the approval that we desire. Sometimes we know that we are in the position to receive the praise but if we don’t get it then we become irate.
In this passage Judah is placed above his brothers. It is prophesied that he will receive the praise from the rest of the clans and that he will be a mighty conqueror. Kings will come from his line.
What is it that you’re currently doing for the Lord?
What is it that you’re currently doing in this world?
Do you want to receive praise for your hard work?
Are you receiving praise for what you are doing, or what you have done?
Prayer: Father God, thank You for allowing us to receive praise, approval and admiration of others for the things that we have done. As Your Kingdom disciples, we pledge to work and do our best so that others will be blessed because of the blessing that You have bestowed upon us. Whenever we receive praise, we will give all the honor and glory to You. Amen.
