Rebellious

Listen, heavens, and pay attention, earth, for the Lord has spoken: “I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me.
Isaiah 1:2 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

God makes a declaration to everyone: ‘to all who inhabits the heavens and to all who inhabits the earth.‘ He is showing everyone what His children have done. He has been a father to them, He has raised them and brought them up in the right way. But guess what they did, they rebelled against Him.

Rebel means to resist or become defiant toward an authority. In this verse, we see that God is saying that the children that He has raised and brought up have become defiant towards Him and His authority and are resisting His rule over them. What could have caused this?

Are you a parent? Have you raised kids? At some point in their lives do they become rebellious towards you? Have you taught them the right way to live? Have you given them everything that they needed? If you have been a good parent then why do they rebel against you?

I asked all these questions to highlight the point that you could be doing everything that is right for them but still yet, they rebel. The problem is not your good training or your unconditional love towards them. The problem is that these children CHOOSE to rebel against you. They don’t want to be under your authority anymore so they choose to go another way.

Just like Father God, you have two choices: punish them or bring them back under your authority. Like God, I pray that you will make the right choice for yourself and your children. As a child of God, are you living in rebellion to God? Will you stop rebelling today?

Prayer: Father God, I admit that at times I have rebelled against You. I have become defiant towards Your authority because I want to have my way. Father God, even though I know that Your way is best I have done what is wrong in Your sight. Today I ask You to forgive me, and I humbly return to live under Your authority. This I pledge in Jesus’ name. Amen
